The Oberoi Beach Resort is home to The Gunpowder Room, a wonderful place to get to know Creole cooking (Creole is also the mixed language spoken on the island of Mauritius). Across nine different casseroles we tried all sorts of things, from vegetables to meat and from seafood to chicken. Some carried heavy spicing, but it was an original experience. In the same building during the day they also talk you through how rum is made and run a tasting.
