Balık ekmek is one of İstanbul's standout street foods. Depending on the part of the city you are in, it can come between two slices of bread or wrapped as a dürüm. My own preference is for the dürüm. Tarihi Balık Dürümcü Mehmet Usta is one of those places where you will see a queue every time you walk past, but it is absolutely worth the wait. The pomegranate salad tucked into the mackerel wrap brings a lovely balance to it. Alongside it I would strongly recommend trying the turşu suyu.
