At Mari Vanna you can taste not only Azerbaijan but the food of its neighbouring countries too, and the room takes hold of you before the food does. Our meal began with the region's excellent pickles and salads; for the middle course we tried khachapuri from Georgia, and for the main, chicken Kiev from Ukraine. Working through the cooking of several cities in turn without leaving our table was a real pleasure. The lemonade made from feijoa, a fruit grown in Azerbaijan, is very refreshing. The regional wines are impressive as well.
