One of the best esnaf lokantası in the city, Mahir Lokantası sends me away happy every single time. The Diyarbakır-style içli köfte and the lahmacun I have eaten here taste like nothing else… The kitchen is serious about both its tencere yemekleri and its kebabs. If you are visiting at lunchtime, the papaz yahnisi has to be tried. If you go in the evening, I can recommend the Mardin kebabı with a clear conscience. For a sweet finish, do not forget to ask for irmik helvası alongside your tea. As someone who has been to both of the İstanbul branches, it is genuinely gratifying to find the same quality and care at each of them.
