One of the things to try while you are in New York is Magnolia Bakery's banana pudding. Made with vanilla pudding, vanilla wafers and banana, it goes down very well after a long walk. They also sell kits so you can make it at home. There are plenty of branches around the city, but you can visit the first one at 401 Bleecker Street and take in its historic feel.
