Heydar Aliyev Müzesi

The Heydar Aliyev Museum was one of the surprises of my visit to Baku. To be honest, on my travels I tend to give outdoor activities priority over museums, but even from the outside this building looks like a feat of engineering in its own right. Its architectural form, said to echo Heydar Aliyev's signature when seen from above, is quite striking too. Just as in the general fabric of the city, inside the museum you can see history and the modern brought together. On one side there are puppets, musical instruments and carpet displays, on the other installations by international artists. The exhibitions change often, so if your road takes you to Baku I would certainly recommend a visit.
