Gioras

Rehberin Notları

Known as the oldest patisserie in the Aegean islands, Gioras has been going since 1420. The story goes that Napoleon would send here for ship's bread before setting out on his long voyages. This particular kind of bread is made to be hard-textured and low in moisture so that it stands up to long journeys. It is traditionally baked in a stone oven, which is how it can keep for a long time without going mouldy. Alongside the traditional things there are modern flavours here too. The fruit ball made with coconut and orange was simple but refreshing.
