I have left it far too late to visit Cevat’ın Yeri, Çeşme’s fifty-year-old fish restaurant... With its airy atmosphere and its produce-led kitchen, this place gave me an experience beyond what I had expected. The garlic balance in the köpoğlu was exactly right. The karides mantı, meanwhile, is a pleasant hot starter that gets you ready for the meal. The biggest surprise of the night was the orkinos bruschetta. With a texture that at first glance recalls red meat, a mustard sauce and caramelised onion, it was so good that I even forgot to photograph it. The barbun we chose as a main was cooked flawlessly. If your travels take you to Çeşme, I would recommend adding this address, which goes beyond the classic fish restaurants, to your list.
