BOA Steakhouse offers a selection from America's best meat producers, and it stands out not only for its meat but for the quality of its service. The branch on the Santa Monica seafront has a wonderful atmosphere for a romantic dinner facing the sunset. That is why spending the last evening of our American trip here turned out to be a good choice. The New York Strip we chose as a main course had been rested properly and was served at exactly the doneness we wanted. The truffled mashed potato that came alongside, with the richness of its butter and its silky texture, accompanied the meat perfectly. The most unforgettable plate of the night for me, though, was the Wagyu Cigars from the hot starters. The wagyu wrapped inside the pastry is smoked at the table as it is served. With its smoky aroma, its crisp texture and its presentation, it went beyond a classic starter and was a genuinely enjoyable plate in gastronomic terms too.
