Beğendik Abi, one of the essential stops on almost every trip I make to Çeşme, serves the artichoke, Urla's emblem, in any number of different interpretations. My favourite for years has been the enginar dolması in vine leaves. With their freshly made yoghurt mezes and their classic plates that taste like home cooking, I take the same pleasure from every visit. If you happen to run into Handan Kaygusuzer during your visit, her warmth and easy conversation make the experience more memorable still.
