Smørrebrød is one of the first things that comes to mind when you think of Denmark. You can think of it as an open sandwich. It comes hot or cold, as street food or in fine dining interpretations. Aamanns has made a speciality of it, and you will find a good many different versions on the menu. The classic is the one made with herring on rye bread. I did not get to try it at the Aamanns restaurant itself, but I took one away from Aamanns Deli. Every bite gives you all the ingredients in balance.
